This beautiful antique mourning brooch is from 1852.  At the centre is a lock of hair surrounded by small pearls.  As seen in a lot of mourning jewellery from this era the brooch has black enamel with a scroll design at the edges.

The reverse side of the brooch has hand carved lettering that says 'In memory of Jane 1852'.
